Support in Hospital and the Community Across Fife
ASSIST is designed to support people whose alcohol or drug use is putting their health, wellbeing or housing at risk.
Our Hospital Navigators are based within Accident & Emergency departments across Fife. They provide immediate support to people attending hospital where alcohol or substance use is a factor, helping them access the right support at the right time.
Many people arrive at A&E during a period of crisis, vulnerability or uncertainty. Our Navigators take time to listen, understand what is happening and help people identify practical next steps before they leave hospital.
The service aims to reduce repeat attendances at emergency services by ensuring people are connected to ongoing support within their communities.
Following hospital discharge, people can be supported by our Community Addiction Workers, who focus on wider issues that may be affecting stability and wellbeing, including housing and tenancy sustainment. Funded in partnership with housing services, the project helps people maintain their homes, overcome barriers and access the support they need to remain connected within their communities.
By providing support both in hospital and in the community, ASSIST creates a smoother pathway from crisis to longer-term stability, helping people access the right support before challenges reach a breaking point.

Building Confidence Before Counselling
Side by Side helps people build confidence and stability before engaging in counselling.
Through a combination of one-to-one and group support, the programme helps people address challenges affecting their wellbeing and develop practical tools for managing life’s pressures.
Everyone is supported at their own pace, with flexible options to ensure the programme meets individual needs and helps people take their next steps with confidence.

Taking Support Into Communities
Community Connect brings support directly into communities across Fife, making it easier for people to access help closer to home.
Using our mobile outreach service, we reach people who may face barriers accessing support due to distance, transport difficulties, stigma or rural isolation. The service provides a local triage point, helping people access the right support at the right time.
Alongside advice and practical support, the team provides harm reduction services, including naloxone distribution, overdose awareness, safer use information and blood-borne virus (BBV) testing.
At its heart, Community Connect is about removing barriers and ensuring people can access support where and when they need it most.

Specialist Support for the Armed Forces Community
Project Shield is a dedicated counselling and wellbeing service for veterans, reservists, serving personnel and their families.
Delivered in collaboration with Vector24, the service provides rapid access to support, with people offered an appointment within five working days of referral.
Our trauma-informed counsellors understand the unique challenges that can affect members of the Armed Forces community. Support is tailored to individual needs and includes specialist counselling, trauma-focused interventions and EMDR where appropriate.
Project Shield provides a confidential, compassionate and accessible pathway to support, helping individuals and families improve wellbeing, build resilience and move forward with confidence.

No Wrong Door
Our KY Clubs are welcoming community spaces where people can access support without an appointment.
Designed as a one-stop shop, the clubs bring a range of services together in one place. During a single visit, people may be able to access same-day prescribing, speak to NHS Addiction Services, receive harm reduction advice, discuss housing or welfare concerns, access healthcare and dental support, and connect with other local services.
For many people, the clubs provide support at a time of crisis or uncertainty. Alongside practical help and professional support, people will always find a warm welcome, a cup of tea or coffee, a toastie or something else to eat, and a safe space to talk about what’s going on in their lives.
At the heart of the clubs is a simple aim: making it easier for people to get the help they need, when they need it.
