Free, confidential support for anyone 18 or over affected by alcohol or drugs, whether that's your own use or someone else's. Looking for ongoing support, or just a chat? We're here. We work closely with other services, so you only have to ask once.
You don't need to have stopped, or be ready to stop, before you come to us.
Support in East Lothian
Our East Lothian team is based at the Esk Centre in Musselburgh, and works across East Lothian.
Our Community Navigators can talk things through with you and help you find the right support, whether that's something we run or another service. You don't need to have it worked out first.
The quickest way to access support is by completing our online referral form. Once we receive it, a member of our team will contact you within two working days to discuss the support available and the next steps. You can also call us on 07843 339 958.
Professionals can use the same form to refer someone they support.
You have rights when you use services like ours. Know your rights sets out what they are and what you can expect from us.
One-to-one support
If it's your own drinking or drug use, you can talk about what's going on, get practical advice on staying safer if you're using, and work on whatever else is making things harder: housing, money, health, relationships.
If it's someone else's, you can come in your own right. We'll work with you on how it's affecting you and what would help. More about support when it's someone else's drinking or drug use.
Either way, if another service can help, we'll put you in touch and come along with you if that makes it easier.
Groups and drop-in
EH33 Club
No referral needed.
Drop in and talk to someone about whatever's going on. That might be one-to-one support and harm reduction, help with benefits, housing or work, or getting into a recovery service. If you've stopped going to a service and want to start again, we can help with that too.
Other organisations come along as well, so people often get several things sorted in one visit instead of being sent somewhere else.
Tea and toasties are free.
Every Friday at Volunteer Centre East Lothian,
56 High Street, Tranent, EH33
5:15- 6:30pm
Recovery check-in group
No referral needed.
The group is for anyone in recovery and anyone still using, and it's somewhere to talk about how things are and meet people in the same position.
Two of our staff run the session, keeping things on track and making space for people to speak honestly and listen to one another.
Every Wednesday at the Esk Medical Centre 5:15- 6:30pm
If you need help right now
We are open Monday to Friday and are not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
For urgent health advice, call NHS 24 on 111. To talk to someone at any hour, Samaritans are on 116 123, free, day or night.
